The History of Western Districts Hockey Club

The Western Districts Hockey (Wests) club was founded in March 1969 as part of Hockey ACT's plan to move into the new district of Belconnen.

The initial meeting was held at the (then new) Jamison Centre and the Wests Committee continue to meet at the Canberra Southern Cross Club at Jamison to this day.

Wests first entered a mens team in the 1969 competition followed by womens teams in 1972 and the club remains a fixture in the ACT Hockey competition, consistently producing representative-level players nurtured from our grass-roots junior programs.
